Bizzy Bears, 3 to 5 years ( Pre-school)
In the Bizzy Bears room children are allowed to express themselves through a wide range of activities and exploring different themes. Children need plenty of free play to develop and learn.
The staffs within Pre-school do their planning to cater for every child’s needs by setting weekly/monthly goals for the children. Within Pre-School the children are encouraged to be independent in all areas such as toileting, getting dressed, serving food and feeding themselves.
At this stage children are becoming more aware of their place in a community. Literacy and numeracy can develop rapidly with the support of a wide range of interesting materials and activities. Children's language is now much more complex, as many become adept at using longer sentences. Conversations with adults become a more important source of information, guidance and reassurance.
The indoor spaces are age appropriate and planned by the practitioners to allow flexibility by the children in the Bizzy Bears as they follow their own child focused learning approach across all six areas of learning. The outdoors gives the Bizzy Bears first hand contact with weather, seasons and the natural world.
Learning and Development
The activities and resources in this age group reflect the following themes:
• Family Books - To make connections between different parts of the children's life experiences helping them to talk freely about their home and community.
• Large and Small Movement Resources - To enhance and improve the children's co-ordination, control, manipulation and movement skills.
